Due to a re-arrangement of my financial situation I have a modest five figure sum available for investment and am actively considering what to do with it. Having ruled out the High Yield P2P platforms, what's the use getting a 12% coupon but losing half your capital? One is reduced to relatively safe platforms, only relatively, that may get 6-8%.
I was surprised to see this article showing 16 FTSE 100 companies with a current yield of 6% plus, now some of them I wouldn't touch with the proverbial barge pole, but other's are pretty safe bets, better than DFLXXX on Lendy anyway, and offer the chance of capital growth even with the likely Brexit turmoil.
Personally I have a very broad portfolio, too heavily reliant on UK property because I was unable to sell my UK home when I left the UK and now it forms too large a proportion of my assets but with these alternatives available, for new money at least, I won't be investing in P2P and can't see why others would.
