No, not another Fundingsecure tip of the day, but an interesting read on financial fraud courtesy of the Guardian. Mostly off our beat, but thought people might enjoy it anyway.

I see some parallel between this quote and VRs occasionally: "Often, an honest auditor who has buckled under pressure will include a cryptic-looking passage of legalese, buried in the notes to the accounts, explaining what accounting treatment has been used, and hoping that someone will read it and understand that the significance of this note is that all of the headline numbers are fake."

I hadn't come across the term "Canadian paradox" before. From the article, it seems to refer to the presence of fraud in a high-trust society. That's my best interpretation, anyway.

Neither had I, but that's how I interpreted it too. I think it was a U.S guardian article, so may be more of an applicable term over on that side of the pond.
