I was banned anyway, at this rate MrC will be talking to himself.

Banned. No reason. No explanation.

My alter-ego is also banned. The only post I made recently was a single light-hearted one in the thread about a link posted by someone else. Presumably interpreted as mod-baiting.
Someone seems to be unduly sensitive.

Me too!

My lighter friend leopardcat also banned, no reason, no read only access. The worst I have been modded for was using the word "castle" and I certainly have not broken any rules since although I questioned a poster on his assertions on market manipulation.
This "night of the long knives" would tend to suggest certain tendencies in those wielding said knives. I think a list of those banned on here (to have it in the daylight) is valuable. (and I hope that the platforms take note)

I hope this doesn't get me banned from here (apologies in advance if it contravenes any current or future rules and feel free to remove it @admin) but I am denied any way of appealing what I believe is a wholly unfair action. This post appears to have been the trigger for P2PIF going offline and my ban:

Good thread this. Personally I am very much in the dark as to why bannings take place, and the other forum is not going to allow any debate on the matter.
How many have been banned? What are the reasons*? How can bannings take place without any explanation given to the damned banned? Perhaps a nice pie chart or something collating 'banning reasons' can be created. Further research: *do more bannings result from posts made whilst UTI ?!
23-04-2018, 09:54 AM
My post was not made UTI and I have been given no reason or way of appealing. I just get the following when I try to go in through the front door to P2PIF. I hope others find their way here because there have been long term members (with single and double digit user numbers) banned similarly.

Do the numbers mean something? Certainly the lack of means to appeal is a real concern.

The screenshot by guff above seems to be the source of my banning also - I had only made 2 posts recently and the other was about student flats in Edinburgh.

Do the numbers mean something? No, my display name is the hexadecimal representation of the ASCII characters of my user name Guff and a reference to a phrase used in the TV programme, The Prisoner: "I am not a number. I am a free man?". The user number is assigned when you join the forum and e.g. yours on Frank is 76, so you were the 76th member to join. Those that I refer to above were some of the originals (first hundred) members.

That screen shot looks like a permanent ban.
For the record, my ban came for adding the following to my profile: "Free the bakelite four" The fact I am on a dubiously acquired list of members of said "secret forum" has absolutely nothing to do with it I'm sure.... hmmm.

Before I go posting anything, have you had any previous warnings or information from the mods whatsoever regarding your enforced exile?

I tried to help in keeping the issue of the Bakelite Four current, which did result in a few prior warnings, deleted posts (with no explanation) and ultimately my ban.

Bit like a referee in a game of football, have you ever seen one change his mind while players protest? Continuing that analogy as someone said yesterday its their ball and they can take it home

I hope you can see that creating that divide is unlikely to win you friends outside of the clique. Why? I'd like to be a member of the SIS, but I simply do not qualify. That doesn't mean I will publicly accuse it's existing membership of underhanded practices or pretend I know what they're all about when, in fact, I know and have seen nothing more than the paranioa and scaremongering initiated by senior members of the P2PIF staff. Whom, whilst we're at it, quite obviously do have their own agenda. AIUI, unlike the P2PIF, which now has a huge imbalance of noise to usefulness ratio, membership of the other forum is by invite only, and most, if not all who've demonstrated a reasonable acumen and willingness to contribute to due diligence, rather than just spread unsupported opinion, have received an invite. Personally, as useful as it can be, I wouldn't want to be a member of any other publicly open P2P forum that has a similar amount of noise as the P2PIF. I simply do not have the time (or inclination) to wade through two lots of chaff to find the small amount of wheat.
