I started a similar Topic on The Other Place and it petered out.
We SO obviously need a "Voice" to represent us all and get the deceit and dishonesty weeded out of P2P for good, including of course the notorious RICS "Professional" Valuations.
Such a Representative Body I suggest should perhaps represent Asset Backed Lenders only as the Unsecured Lenders have different issues. (?)
I have made an initial effort in contacting The Federation of Small Business yesterday as I think Membership could be a huge income stream for them and having been a past Member I know how effective they are and can be. Unfortunately, I fear The FSB would need to set up a different offering for P2P Lenders and I think the idea might be a bit too off the wall for them. Sole Trader Membership is £172.50 first year (inc Joining Fee I think) but that is probably too expensive for most. If The FSB can engage their lateral thinking they could possibly offer a P2P Membership to us P2P Lenders without their normal bells & whistles perhaps to keep membership costs down?(No legal indemnity, Discounts, etc) Anyway, I left a message for the Sales & Marketing Director to phone me (they wouldn't put me through) and I'll expand on the idea to him/her if/when they call.
It was mentioned on the other Board about those who pay would provide "free" support to those who don't but it has been forever thus. The FSB for example provides huge benefits for all businesses through their very hard work but of course not all businesses pay the Membership.
